About the artist… Bob Staake

One of the nation's most prolific illustrators, his clients have included The New Yorker, TIME, American Express, The Wall Street Journal, Simon and Schuster, Doubleday, Klutz,The New York Times, and countless others.

He lives in Chatham, Massachusetts in a 200-year-old house on the elbow of Cape Cod. Staake's 3-story Main Street studio, which he designed, is featured in the January/February 2008 issue of I.D. (International Design) Magazine.

Every year, the Cape & Islands Bookstore Trail launches on Independent Bookstore Day (the last Saturday in April) and ends on the last day of Banned Books Week (usually in September or October). Though we encourage folks to visit the stores year-round, we do the “official” Trail during this time for a few reasons:

  • All of the stores are open during these months

  • Independent Bookstore Day and Banned Books Week are essential days in the book world, and we thought it would be perfect to “bookend” the Trail with these dates.
